One thing I really liked about Melbourne is that there are so many hidden places to discover. Melbourne is a city that needs to be explored to be enjoyed - for many visitors to Melbourne, finding a good place to eat, drink, shop is not easy because most good places are all hidden away in alley and laneways. Its a constant quest to find a hidden gem that has not been discovered by the masses and Me and Eva are quite pleased to discover Gills Diner on Friday Night. Gills Diner is on Gills Alley off Little Collins Street. Its only been open for dinner for a couple of weeks and its definitely a place that I will return and recommend to friends.
I had squid ink pasta with Salted Cod & Eva had a seafood boullabaise
High ceiling, simple decor, chill music. Dessert : churros (yummy)
The selection of wines available is pretty good. Eva had a glass of riesling with her soup and I had a glass of Durif which is really yummy. We were saying next time when we return we could go back just to sit down, chat, have a glass of wine and then eat churros. For those that can stomach a bit more food... Gills Diner now do a 6 course meal for $68 on Friday and Saturday nights. Bon Appetit everyone.
