After working late every night for the whole week, me and some of my workmates decide to treat ourselves to a decent meal after finishing work at 9pm on a Friday evening. We headed to this seafood restaurant near my place as I noticed that its always packed and I presumed the seafood is good.
Steam black groupa fish and Chilli Sri Lanka Crabs
Marmite Ribs and Mushroom with Brocolli
This is a none fanciful restaurants where the patrons sits outside on red plastic chairs. Service was quite attentive and like most nights, the place is packed with families and other patrons all tugging in on seafood. We ordered a small Steam Fish (SGD 42) and since there are others that craved the Chilli Crab (2 crabs for SGD84), we ordered that as well. The fish was fresh and quite tasty. The verdict I got for the crab was, "its good, but not the best". I of course did not eat the crab and could not comment on it.
The marmite ribs is one of the signature dish of this restaurant and it didn't disappoint. The vege dish was also another recommendation as the manager said this special mushroom that they imported from China actually tastes like Abalone. It was ok. We ordered a plate of "man tou" - sweet fried buns to go with our meals and I got to say. It was the best "man tou" that I have ever tasted in Singapore. Its not overly greasy and its still quite fluffy and soft inside.
Total damage for the entire meal was SGD162 for 5 people and I think for Singapore standard, its considered quite reasonable. I would return and order the "man tou" and marmite ribs again and maybe try something else next time.
