Place : Walkabout Temple
What : First Group F Game (Australia vs Japan)
Me and fellow workmate (English) walked hastily to the Temple Walkabout and met up with Sonia in front. David (the other Aussie workmate is already inside). There was a queue, and many many green and gold shirts. We got in and they start playing the Australia National Anthem. Everyone was singing....
We got a spot in front of 2 plasma screens - kick off and the crowd starts to roar. There was no air-conditioning at the Walkabout, but no one seemed to care. When Australia scored their first goal, I swear the whole place was rocking. It was soooo loud. I took out my camera and took a video of the great atmosphere. I was about to put my camera away, when another roar came - another goal.... and another goal... It was soo loud it sounded like thunder... it was amazing! Ppl were taking off their shirts and the chant of Aussies Aussies Aussies Oi Oi Oi can be heard througout. Texts we coming from everyone, even from ppl back in Melbourne who stayed up all night.... for one day, we seemed to be living in the same time zone. :)
