June 15th - Today is the official birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. She was to attend a Thanksgiving Mass at St Paul's Cathedral at 11:15am (which is 5mins walk from my office), so me and David decide to wander down to say 'Hi' to the Queen.
We got there at 10:50am and the bells at St Paul's were already ringing... ppl & police are everywhere. We were told the Queen is never late, so we patiently waited. First came all the guests, the mayor of London, Prince Charles.... and at precisely 11:12am, the car with Prince Phillip & Queen Elizabeth drove up Fleet Street and straight into St Paul's churchyard.
The Queen stepped out of her car, wearing a cream dress with matching hat & purse (of course). She walked straight up the steps and at the top of the step, stopped for 1 brief wave to the crowd and disappeared into St Paul.
I didnt get to say 'Hi' - but am very happy with my brief encouter with the Queen :)
