Cusco - Peru

Cusco was my first destination because we start the Inca Trail there. I arrived in Cusco after a really really long plane journey and stayed at the Recoleta Guesthouse. We have a 4 bedroom with ensuite and it was very nice. We are quite spoilt indeed as we only paid 10usd each and it includes breakfast!
Cusco is a really old city, it used to be the capital city of the Inca´s until it was demolished by the spanish. The spanish built over all the Inca walls, but still there are some parts of the city where you can see traces of it. The whole city is terracota in colour and they use mud & hay to build all the buildings. I didnt acclimatise well and hence the whole time we were in Cusco, I was walking in a trance and we didnt manage to fit much sight seeing in. We just walked around the city aimlessly and ate everything we can find our hands on. We tried Cuy (guinea pig), Alpaca Steak, Llama steak, ate the local corn, drank pisco sour, bought alpaca beanies and gloves like all other tourists and just chilled for 4 days before we start the trek.
