It was again freezing this morning and there were still some snow on the ground while walking up to O Cebreiro. Woke up at 630am because I was in a dungeon full of Germans and they are all early risers. Had instant noodle and 2 yoghurt and the alberque before setting out. Sam and Tara are even slower than me to get ready so we only left the albergue at 8:40am
The cold air makes it hard for me to breath and the steep climb means I walk so much slower than usual. I managed only 2km in 1hour
At the first village we stopped for green tea and then quickly set off again. Another 2km and we arrive at O Cebreiro the peak and it was a really nice village. I was starving even though I had such a big breakfast so I ordered again my usual. Tortilla con patatas
The view from the mountain is pretty amazing and we seemed to be walking into the clouds.
After O Cebreiro we descent and then climbed another 2 mountains. Both around 1200m high. Hard day today. My knee is feeling the tension!
I stopped in a village called Hospital and had something to eat while herds of cows pass me. Today 3 herds of cows have passed me and the rule is pilgrims must give way to cow even though they are quite slow.
Walked passed at least 5 small villages today. Most with only a dozen houses and farms and 1 bar. Fonfria had a nice alberque but we continued in to Fillobal because the alberque is new and also it's only 4km from Tricastela.
Arrived at 4pm at Albergue Fillobal and it was very pleasant. Small, new, clean and only €9. Many pilgrims would push on to Tricastela because there are many more Albergue there and being in this one just before the big towns means we mostly get the place to ourselves. There are only 9 people here tonight.
Still with Sam and Tara and tomorrow we will walk together again to Samos. I will stay the night at Samos but Sam doesn't like walking only 14km a day so he might push on.
Hopefully the dorm will be warm enough tonight and I will get a good sleep.
