Day 35 Pedrouzo to Santiago de Compostela

For most people their camino walking will end today so early morning we can already feel the buzz of excitement in the alberque.

Me, Gina, Lisa arranged to meet with Lex and Judy and Pierre this morning to walk together at 7:30am. Since I was so sick during the night last night I didn't get any sleep and was a zombie but I managed to get packed and left the Albergue on time feeling queasy.

We had a piece of toast and then set out. 5km out and we made a stop and I was about to collapse. Luckily the cafe had chicken soup and I had some of that and it gave me a bit of energy. Upon leaving that cafe we were faced with a hill and Lex said he will carry my pack. I was reluctant as everyone had their own pack to carry but I was really struggling to go uphill so I finally relented and Lisa took my pack first. Judy took my pack 2nd and then Pierre took it 3rd and finally Lex took my pack. This all went on for about 6km and when we made a rest stop, I mixed some rehydration salt in my water bottle and sipped that along the way. That helped and I carried my pack again

At that point it's more about mental strongness rather that physical strongness.  The final 8km was pure concentration and looking forward to somewhere to lie down.

The walk into Santiago is totally in un-inspirational. Walking on asphalt, passing the airport and then the suburbs of Santiago but the first view of the cathedral is exciting. Upon seeing the cathedral we all congratulated each other and gave each other a big hug. It's then group photo time!

Made to Santiago in 35 days!!! Resting for 2 days then its Finisterre to complete the journey
