Day 38 Santiago to Negreira

Today I walked again after a 2 days rest in Santiago. The weather is much better, we only had a bit of rain in the morning and it was cloudy the whole day but no rain

Walked a total of 22.5km today. The Camino to Finisterre is much less travelled and hence there are not many bars/cafes for food and rest stops along the way. I brought plenty of food with me and also had a whole litre of water just in case.

Since there are not many people walking this way, the way was quiet and peaceful as compared to the chaos of the last 2 stages of walking the Camino Frances into Santiago.

We walked through lots of gum tree forest and also mystical lush green forest and also about 40% of the way on asphalt. There were lots of downhill which means that soon there will be lots of uphill

We didn't pass through any interesting town and only stopped twice to eat our sandwich. The only nicer looking town was Pontemaceira which has a nice roman bridge and that was after walking 12km. We left Santiago at 8:30am after breakfast in the local cafe and arrived at Negreira at 2pm.

The Albergue San Jose that we are in is flash, modern and clean. There are many beds but its bit full as not many people walk to Finisterre

We had a chance to use the washing machine and dryer here so me and Line took the chance to wash all our clothes. After the usual chores and shower we wandered around town looking for food and also some that serves vegetarian. Finally found a local bar which has vegetarian soup so we ate there. I had one of the tastiest rice dishes I have had on the camino. It was similar to a paella but with beef ribs! Yummy.

After our 3pm lunch we went and bought food to bring with us tomorrow and then it's back to the alberque for some R&R and to use their wifi to book accommodation for the next couple of days

Tomorrow we walk to MaroƱas which is a short 21km away as we are breaking up the uphill climb to 2 days instead of walking a 35km day
